BEIJING — The number of market players in China has amounted to 116 million by the end of June, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
In the first half of the year, an average of 19,400 enterprises were newly established on a daily basis, up 7.1 percent year-on-year, said Xiao Yaqing, head of the SAMR.
China will deepen the reform in the enterprise market access and facilitate companies in the cancellation of registration in the second half of the year, according to Xiao.
He also stressed the importance of food and drug safety and plans to strengthen supervision and law enforcement in the sector.
SAMR data showed that China currently has more than 15 million licensed food producers and operators nationwide.
