BEIJING — China's bicycle output stood at 3.667 million in July, up 9.7 percent year-on-year, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The output of electric bikes climbed 41.3 percent from a year ago to reach 3.049 million in July, according to the ministry.
During the January-July period, bicycle output dropped 8.1 percent year-on-year to 22.891 million, while the output of electric bikes rose 15.2 percent year-on-year to 15.198 million.
The country's bicycle manufacturers above designated size saw their revenue fall by 2.2 percent year-on-year to 28.85 billion yuan ($4.1 billion) in the first seven months, with their profit surging by 83.9 percent to 970 million yuan.
During the same period, electric bike makers reported total revenue of 41.77 billion yuan, up 8.7 percent year-on-year, with their revenue rising 14.6 percent to 1.67 billion yuan, said the MIIT.
