BEIJING — China's home appliance industry grew steadily in the first seven months of this year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed.
Total revenue of home appliance companies hit 930.43 billion yuan ($131.55 billion) during the period, up 5.8 percent year-on-year, according to the MIIT.
The sector's profit surged 15.5 percent year-on-year to reach 68.11 billion yuan in the January-July period.
About 50.43 million refrigerators, 138.53 million air-conditioners and 42.44 million washing machines were produced, up 4.2 percent, 8.7 percent and 7.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.
To further boost home appliance consumption, China aims to introduce incentives to support consumers to exchange old home appliances and electronics for more green and smart alternatives, according to a guideline issued by the State Council in August this year.
