BEIJING — China's road cargo transport saw steady growth in the first eight months of 2019, official data showed.
Road cargo volume increased 5.8 percent year-on-year to 26.38 billion tons in the January-August period, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement.
East China's Fujian province registered the fastest growth with a growth rate of 12.1 percent, followed by Heilongjiang and Hainan.
Expressway cargo volume increased 8.9 percent year-on-year in the period, according to the ministry.
Fixed asset investment in road transport rose 3.8 percent to 1.35 trillion yuan ($191 billion) between January and August, the ministry added.
