BEIJING — Revenue of China's electronic information manufacturing industry rose 5 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2019.
The sector registered a 2.7-percent slump in profits as operating costs gained 4.9 percent year-on-year during the period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Fixed asset investment of the industry grew 11.1 percent year-on-year, 0.6 percentage points higher than the period of Jan-July, MIIT data showed.
In breakdown, profits of communications equipment manufacturers climbed 10.2 percent and that of computer manufacturers went up 7.7 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of this year, the ministry said.
MIIT data also showed China's laptops output dipped 1.3 percent year-on-year while that of tablet computers surged 44.2 percent.
