BEIJING — Prices of farm produce in China went up from last week with an increase in the wholesale prices of meat, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed on Dec 10.

From Dec 2 to 8, the overall price of farm produce rose 1.9 percent on a weekly basis.

In breakdown, the pork wholesale price gained 4.5 percent from the previous week, while the wholesale price of beef and mutton edging up 0.1 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.

The average wholesale price of 30 types of vegetables increased by 2.8 percent from last week.

Bucking the trend, poultry-related products continued the downward trend, with the wholesale price of eggs shrinking 0.5 percent.

Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.

China's CPI rose 4.5 percent year-on-year in November, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Dec 10.

The growth rate, which was up from 3.8 percent in October, was the highest so far this year.
