China's non-ferrous metal output grows 3.1% in Jan-July

BEIJING — China's production of 10 major non-ferrous metals rose 3.1 percent year-on-year to 34.6 million metric tons in the first seven months of 2020, official data showed.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth pace accelerated further from a rise of 2.9 percent in the first half of the year and 2.7 percent in the first five months.

The 10 major non-ferrous metals are copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, antimony, mercury, magnesium and titanium.

Production of electrolytic aluminum, which accounted for nearly two-thirds of the total output, registered a 2.5 percent increase from the previous year to 21.13 million tonnes in the first seven months.

In July alone, the combined output of the 10 metals hit 5.08 million tons, up 3.3 percent from a year earlier.
