BEIJING — China's postal industry saw steady expansion in business revenue and parcels handled in 2021, data from the State Post Bureau (SPB) shows.
The sector raked in over 1.26 trillion yuan (about $197.87 billion) in the period, up 14.5 percent year-on-year, while its business volume soared 25.1 percent over one year earlier, according to the bureau.
China's courier companies handled 108.3 billion parcels last year, surging 29.9 percent from a year earlier. Their combined business revenue topped 1.03 trillion yuan during the period, a yearly increase of 17.5 percent.
The SPB expected the total revenue of China's postal industry to grow by 11 percent year-on-year in 2022, while that of the courier sector is projected to rise 12 percent from the previous year.
