China reports 3.8 pct rise in ODI in H1

BEIJING, July 28 -- China's outbound direct investment (ODI) across all industries reached 596.42 billion yuan (about 86.53 billion U.S. dollars) during the first six months of 2026, representing an increase of 3.8 percent year on year, official data showed Tuesday.

China's domestic investors engaged in non-financial direct investment in 6,867 overseas companies across 144 countries and regions, with the investment value totaling 453.06 billion yuan, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

During the first six months, China's non-financial ODI in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 120.77 billion yuan, down 11.1 percent year on year.

During the period, the turnover of contracted overseas projects by Chinese companies amounted to 606.26 billion yuan, an increase of 8 percent year on year.

The turnover of contracted overseas projects by Chinese companies in BRI partner countries rose 11.8 percent year on year in the first six months to 520.71 billion yuan.
