A new China-Europe freight train transporting local products was inaugurated in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The train, named "Tianshan" after the famous Tianshan Mountains, carried over 950 tonnes of goods, including household appliances, machinery and raisins, valued at more than $10 million to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on its first run.
The first self-owned freight train brand in the Xinjiang region, the Tianshan freight train will operate two or three times a week. The launch of the freight train marks an important step toward the development of the Xinjiang Pilot Free Trade Zone, as it will help build Xinjiang into a comprehensive logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia.
