The Hexi Corridor, a critical part of the ancient Silk Road winding through south of the province, boasts more than 1,400 kilometers of the Wall built in the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD), and over 1,200 kilometers erected in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
