Updated: December 12, 2023 17:19 China Daily

The largest offshore wind power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with an annual electricity generation capacity of more than 3 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), starts full-capacity production on Tuesday, said its operator China General Nuclear Power Corporation.

Electricity generated by the project is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by about 1 million metric tons, and preventing the release of around 2.35 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, according to the company.

The company has been actively developing offshore wind projects in recent years, with offshore wind capacity that has been into operation reaching 2.8 million kilowatts, mostly scattered in Guangdong province, it said.
