26th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade begins in Fuzhou

The 26th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade kicked off on Thursday in Fuzhou, southeast China's Fujian Province. The event aims to deepen integrated development across the Taiwan Straits.

The event will last for four days, and more than 50 industrial and commercial organizations and over 1,000 compatriots and businessmen from China's Taiwan region are expected to attend the fair.

The mainland's economy has continued to rebound, showing great innovation vitality and bright prospects, said Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

It is fully capable of providing strengthened impetus for the promotion of cross-Straits economic cooperation, and of opening broader space for development, he said at the opening ceremony of the fair.

The Chinese mainland will continue to promote cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and take the lead in sharing with Taiwan compatriots and enterprises the opportunities and fruits of Chinese modernization and development, he said.

"We will continue to support Fujian Province in promoting the building of the cross-Straits integrated development demonstration zone. We hope that Taiwan compatriots, especially young people, will seize the opportunity of the building of the demonstration zone and come to Fujian to study, live, work and start businesses," he added.

After 30 years of development, the fair has become a famous comprehensive cross-Straits business event, which has attracted over 10,000 enterprises from Taiwan and some 30,000 businessmen from the region in total.

It also plays an important role in exploring new paths for cross-Straits integrated development and further promoting cross-Straits economic cooperation.
