The 184-kilometer-long Beijing-Yuxian Expressway opened on December 30, connecting Beijing's Mentougou District to Nuanquan Town in Hebei's Yuxian County. As the only westward highway linking Beijing to Hebei, it reduces travel time from Beijing's west sixth ring road to Yuxian County from three hours to two and from three hours to just one hour for travel to Zhuolu County.

The expressway, which connects with the Hunyuan-Guangling Expressway in Shanxi Province, is expected to ease traffic in northwest and southwest Beijing.
