Zunyi in southwest China's Guizhou Province once served as a revolutionary base for the Communist Party of China (CPC). It is where the Zunyi Meeting -- described as "a watershed event in the history of the CPC" -- took place in early 1935. Ninety years after the Zunyi Meeting, Zunyi City has undergone an earthshaking transformation. According to preliminary calculations, the city's GDP in the first three quarters of 2024 was 361.607 billion yuan (about 50.308 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 5.7 percent over the same period last year.
