Updated: August 3, 2026 20:49 Xinhua

BEIJING, Aug. 3 -- China has dispatched 65,000 disaster relief items to its northwestern Shaanxi Province as heavy rains continue to lash the region, the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) said Monday.

The aid package includes tents, folding beds, blankets and household emergency kits. The supplies will support local authorities in relief efforts, as well as the evacuation, resettlement and shelter of affected residents.

The supplies were allocated by the office of the national commission for disaster prevention, reduction and relief, the MEM, and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.

Continuous downpours have battered Shaanxi in recent days, triggering 46 flood peaks, all below warning levels, at 38 monitoring stations on 27 rivers across the province.
