VIENTIANE — Chinese and Lao officials signed a document for carrying out China aid projects for poverty alleviation in Laos on Oct 23 in Lao capital Vientiane.
Wang Qihui, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos and Saysana Sithiphone, chief cabinet of Laos-China Cooperation Commission signed the implementation summary for the Chinese government's assistance to Lao rural poverty alleviation facilities construction.
Main projects under the plan are building water supply systems, setting up medical and health centers, providing electricity and lighting, and installing digital TVs in around 30 Lao villages. The projects are expected to significantly improve the living standards of people in rural Laos.
China continues to provide assistance for the development of Laos and for the improvement of people's livelihood. The two sides will implement more projects in the sectors such as sanitation, water supply and capacity building in rural and poor areas of Laos.
The Chinese embassy in Laos is strengthening coordination with the relevant departments of the Lao side to promote the implementation of relevant assistance, so as to bring benefits to the Lao people as soon as possible.
