KIEV — An airplane loaded with humanitarian aid from China landed at Boryspil International Airport in Kiev on April 1, delivering critical medical supplies for the country's fight against COVID-19.
As part of the aid sent by China, Ukraine received disposable protective equipment including suits, surgical gloves, shoe covers, and infrared thermometers.
Speaking at a ceremony to receive the goods, Fan Xianrong, the Chinese ambassador to Ukraine, voiced China's support for Ukraine.
"We are working hard to assist Ukraine in this difficult period of fighting the global pandemic, which, unfortunately, has not left aside Ukraine. We provide humanitarian assistance with medical kits, but equally important is our help with experience and knowledge that we can share with Ukrainian healthcare professionals and methods of preventing and treating the virus," Fan said.
"Ukrainian medics and virologists continue the collaboration with leading Chinese doctors on the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, as well as on protecting the medical staff responding to the epidemic of this novel coronavirus. We value the support of the People's Republic of China," underlined Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Andrii Semyvolos.
In March, two video conferences were held at the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine, during which Chinese experts and doctors shared their experiences in combating the pandemic with their Ukrainian colleagues.
As of April 1, 669 cases of COVID-19 infection have been confirmed in Ukraine.
