BISHKEK — An official handover ceremony of food aid provided by the Chinese government to Kyrgyzstan was held on Nov 4.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen said that the food aid demonstrates the Chinese people's friendly feelings towards the Kyrgyz people, according to a statement by the Chinese embassy.
"We hoped that the aid will play a positive role in Kyrgyzstan's response to the epidemic, ensuring food security and improving people's livelihood," said Du, adding that China is ready to further deepen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in various fields for the benefit of the two peoples.
In the speech, Du spoke highly of China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership and the achievements of cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Boobek Azhikeev said that on behalf of the government and people of Kyrgyzstan, he appreciated China's emergency food aid to Kyrgyzstan, stressing that China's assistance is very timely and will benefit the Kyrgyz people and effectively help the Kyrgyz government to ensure food security.
"Kyrgyzstan is willing to further consolidate the traditional friendship with China," the minister said.
The Chinese government's food aid arrived in Kyrgyzstan in October, including flour, sugar and cooking oil.
