China honors technical professionals

A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Sept 22 urged efforts to create a favorable environment for technical professionals to fully apply their talents.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a national awards ceremony for such talents in Beijing.

Ninety-nine individuals and 96 organizations received awards at the ceremony.

The revival of the Chinese nation will not be realized without progress in science and technology and development of human resources, Liu said.

He called for authorities to encourage technical innovation and promote reform in how talent is cultivated.

Liu also voiced his expectation that the honored experts will continue to work hard for the country’s goals and asked professionals from all walks of life to learn from their example.
