Kenya railway starts operation with help from China

The first passenger train of the first phase of the Nairobi-Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) stops at the Nairobi Station in Kenya. The first phase of the project, 120 kilometers from Nairobi to Naivasha, was launched on Oct 16, 2019. The project was implemented by China Communications Construction Company through an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) mode. The speed of passenger trains is 120 km/h, and that of cargo trains is 80 km/h. [Photo/Xinhua]
