Water control project in Xinjiang making steady progress

Aerial photo taken on July 15 shows the construction site in the second stage of the Jinghe Xiatianji Water Control Project in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. It is a key water conservancy project in Jinghe county, Boltala Mongolia autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The second stage of the project is making steady progress, with 300 workers and dozens of large machines. It started in August 2019, with a planned time frame of 31 months. The construction plans to heighten the dam and build the dam abutment spillway, the water diversion and power generation system and some workshop buildings. After completion, the project can meet the irrigation needs of more than 430,000 acres of farmland in the Jinghe irrigation area, enhance the flood control capacity of the Jinghe River Basin, and promote the development of electric power generation and other industries in Jinghe county.
