As the last circuit breaker of Xiongan Railway Maintenance Base was closed on Sept 10, 2020, the overhead contact system (OCS) of the section between the Daxing Airport and Xiongan of the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway was powered up, which means the railway’s whole OCS is now electrified.

According to China Railway Beijing Group Co Ltd, the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway is about to begin joint commissioning and debugging.

The five stations along the intercity railway, Beijing Daxing, Daxing Airport, Gu’an East, Bazhou South and Xiongan, have been powered up. To ensure the OCS safety, over 30, 000 trees along the route were trimmed and more than 1,000 floating objects were removed.

Xiongan Station was installed with the nation’s first smart unattended underground traction substation. Its sensing and alarm equipment operates automatically.

A new model of China’s smart high-speed railways, the Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway is renowned for its smart design, construction and maintenance. Designers had simulated the operation of the entire railway with the technology of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS) before the construction started. In the future, passengers will be able to use facial recognition, ID cards, passport and even permit for traveling to Hong Kong and Macao as tickets for the railway.

The Beijing-Xiongan Intercity Railway is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2020, when it will only take an hour to travel from Beijing to Xiongan. The regional road network layout in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be further improved to further support industrial agglomeration in the Xiongan New Area.
