Major power transmission plant in E China goes live

The Poyang Lake converter station in Dongxiang district, Fuzhou city, East China's Jiangxi province, on June 18, 2021. The Yazhong-Poyang Lake 800-kilovolt ultra high voltage direct current (UHVDC) power transmission project officially began operations on June 21, 2021. As an important project of China Power Grid to serve the country’s west-to-east power transmission program, it passes through Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi provinces, for a total length of 1,696 kilometers, with a designed annual transmission capacity of 36 billion kilowatt-hours.
