The golden Samaba terraces in serpentine shapes have become a tourist attraction, with the fields giving off the fragrance of rice in Yunnan province's Honghe county.
The awe-inspiring scenes are attracting a large number of visitors, who linger daily to take in the striking scenery, local authorities said.
The more than 6.67-million-square-meter Samaba terraces, with a history of more than 1,300 years, are an important world heritage, local authorities said.
In June 2010, the Samaba terraces were listed as an important pilot project for the protection of agricultural and cultural heritage by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. In 2013, the terraces were listed as a world cultural heritage.
