Deep-sea manned submersible serves scientific expeditions

China's deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver) onboard scientific research ship Tansuo-1 in the Western Pacific, on Aug 18, 2021. Setting off from Sanya, South China’s Hainan province, on Aug 11, the domestically-developed submersible has recently been put into use for regular scientific expeditions in the Mariana Trench, and is now on the return voyage. Fendouzhe set a national record by diving to a depth of 10,909 meters in the Mariana Trench in November 2020. [Photo/Xinhua]
