The runner for the No 9 power-generating unit of Baihetan hydropower station is being hoisted for installation, on Dec 19, 2021. It is the last one to be hoisted among all 16 units.
Located downstream of the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze, in Ningnan county of Southwest China’s Sichuan province and Qiaojia county of neighboring Yunnan province, the station is a major project in China's west-to-east power transmission project. It will have a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, second only to the Three Gorges Dam project. Both banks of the river will be equipped with 8 hydro-generating units, each with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world. [Photo/Xinhua]
