Scientific expedition launched in Yangtze headwaters

A scientific expedition team from the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI) collects samples in Zadoi county, in the headwater regions of Lancang River, July 24, 2022. A new expedition was launched on July 24 in Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Northwest China's Qinghai province. Led by CRSRI of the Changjiang Water Resources Commission, the team will conduct scientific investigations into water resources, river hydrology, water ecology, glaciers, soil erosion and permafrost in the headwater regions of the Yangtze and Lancang rivers, with a focus on calculating ice volume and observing the carbon stock of wetlands.
