CASS launches yellow book on world economy, politics

BEIJING -- “World Economy Analysis and Forecast (2015)” and “Annual Report on International Politics and Security (2015)” were launched by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Dec 26 in Beijing.

The two books, compiled by the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the academy and published by the Social Sciences Academic Press (China), are respectively part of the Yellow Book of World Economy and the Yellow Book of International Politics.

The “World Economy Analysis and Forecast (2015)” analyzes the economic situation of world’s major countries and region in 2014 and makes corresponding predictions.

This book also includes special reports on international trade, international finance, foreign direct investment, global commodity price, and studies on hot economic issues in 2014.

The world economy, the book believes, will be influenced by many factors in 2015 such as the monetary policies of US, Europe, Japan and other advanced economies and their spillover effect, the possibility of European economy out of its slump, the final effectiveness of “Abenomics”, the reform results of major emerging economies, the potential risk of global financial system, geopolitical economic trends, paroxysmal diseases, natural disasters.

Based on academic research and data, “Annual Report on International Politics and Security (2015)” describes and analyzes the overall international political and security situation in 2014, offers generalizations regarding the basic characteristics of the contemporary international situation and possible future prospects.

This book also analyzes the relations of confrontation and cooperation among the major powers; global issues and global governance; international conferences and international organizations.

As focal points in 2014, the crisis in Ukraine, the Crimean issue, the referendum in Scotland, the situation in West Asia and North Africa, and the Ebola epidemic are key areas of attention in this book.
