Highlights of foreign congratulatory messages on PRC's 70th founding anniversary (12)

BEIJING — Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent a multitude of congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.

Argentine President Mauricio Macri said China has over the past 70 years achieved unprecedented development, adding that the country under Xi's leadership will continue marching forward on the path of progress, development, and opening-up.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said the founding of the PRC bears a milestone significance for the Chinese people and in modern history. He wishes perpetual prosperity, peace, and progress for the Chinese.

President of Trinidad and Tobago Paula-Mae Weekes said China has become a major economy in the world over the past 70 years, setting an example for developing countries.

Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said China has scored admirable progress over the past seven decades, adding that the world is expecting that China can play a leading role in the world's key economic issues.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), said China has built a medical care system that can cover the whole country with 70 years of relentless efforts, and as a result, the health and welfare of its people have seen a remarkable improvement.

The WHO, he said, speaks highly of China's leading role in the global health sector, and is ready to step up its cooperation with China so as to build a healthier, safer and juster world.

Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab said that the unprecedented achievements China has achieved over the past 70 years have not only benefitted itself but also the world, and offer the world a whole new development pattern.

He added that the WEF will continue working with China to make greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
