HAIKOU — Tourism revenue of China's southern island province of Hainan grew by 11.5 percent year on year to 7.67 billion yuan (about $1.08 billion) during the National Day holiday, authorities said on Oct 8.
Hainan received a total of 4 million visitors during the weeklong holiday, up 5.8 percent compared with the same period of last year, among which close to 2.3 million trips were single-day tours, according to the provincial department of culture and tourism.
The scenic spots on the island attracted 2.6 million people, an increase of 8.3 percent year on year.
Four offshore duty-free stores in Hainan received over 220,000 customers during the holiday, raking in 385 million yuan in sales, up 38.9 percent and 57.4 percent year on year, respectively.
