BEIJING — China's central bank will issue an animal-featured silver coin on Oct 28 to commemorate the Beijing International Coin Exposition 2019.

The silver coin will be legal tender in China, the People's Bank of China (PBOC) said on its website.

The front side of the coin features the expo's logo along with the country name and year of issuance, the PBOC said.

Coins with a crested ibis, China's rare bird, and an Australian Koala are designed on the reverse side of the coin, together with the Chinese and English names of the exhibition.

The silver coin, which is 40 mm in diameter, contains 30 grams of 99.9 percent pure silver and has a face value of 10 yuan ($1.41).

The maximum circulation of the coins will be 30,000, according to the central bank statement.

The Beijing International Coin Exposition 2019 will be held at the National Convention Center from Nov 15 to 17, exhibiting world coins, commemorative medals and related derivatives.
