WUHAN — Central China's Hubei province reported five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 outside Wuhan on Feb 27, the provincial capital and the epicenter of the virus outbreak, the provincial health commission said on Feb 28.
The commission said the hard-hit province reported 318 new confirmed cases and 41 new deaths on Feb 27, bringing the number of total confirmed cases to 65,914 and that of total deaths to 2,682.
Wuhan reported 313 new confirmed cases and 28 new deaths on Feb 27. In total, the city has registered 48,137 confirmed cases and 2,132 deaths.
The province also saw 3,203 patients discharged from hospital after recovery on Feb 27, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 26,403.
Among the 32,878 hospitalized patients, 6,270 were still in severe condition and another 1,363 in critical condition.
The commission also said Hubei had 1,989 suspected cases, after 360 suspected cases were ruled out while 332 new suspected cases were reported on Feb 27.
