BEIJING — Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:

— One new COVID-19 case was reported on April 3 in Central China's Hubei province.

The province saw four new deaths, which were all reported in the provincial capital of Wuhan on April 3.

The province confirmed 38 asymptomatic COVID-19 patients on April 3, bringing the total to 729, all of whom had been put under medical observation by the end of April 3.

— Chinese health authority said on April 4 it received reports of 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on April 3, of which 18 were imported.

As of April 3, the mainland had reported a total of 888 imported cases. Of the cases, 190 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 698 were being treated with 17 in severe conditions.

— The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,639 by April 3, including 1,562 patients who were still being treated, 76,751 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,326 people who died of the disease.

— On April 3, 64 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland, including 26 imported ones.

A total of 1,030 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation, including 239 from abroad.

— Xi Jinping led other Chinese leaders on April 4 to attend a national mourning for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) victims. They stood in silence in the Zhongnanhai leadership compound in Beijing, at 10:00 am. The commemoration lasted three minutes.

They had white flowers pinned to the chest and paid silent tribute in front of a national flag, flying at half-mast.

— The Ministry of Public Security said 60 police officers and 35 auxiliary police officers had died in the line of duty as of April 2 since the COVID-19 outbreak.
