TIANJIN — Workers have broken ground on a railway project connecting the Beijing Daxing International Airport and a railway station in northern China's Tianjin municipality.
The first phase of the project began on April 7 in the city of Langfang, northern China's Hebei province, according to the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission.
The Tianjin-Daxing Railway forms part of the major projects in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It connects the Tianjinxi Railway Station in Tianjin and the Beijing Daxing International Airport with a length of 100.6 km.
At completion, it will be the fourth high-speed railway connecting Beijing and Tianjin.
Beijing Daxing International Airport went into operation on Sept 25, 2019. It is expected to realize a passenger throughput of more than 100 million a year in the future.
