Latest developments in epidemic control on April 24 (2)

BEIJING — Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:

— Chinese health authority said on April 24 that it received reports of six new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland on April 23, of which two were imported.

The other four new cases were domestically transmitted, the National Health Commission (NHC) said in a daily report, noting that three cases were reported in Heilongjiang province and one in Guangdong province.

No deaths were reported on April 23 on the mainland. Two new suspected cases, all imported ones, were also reported.

— No new confirmed cases or new deaths of COVID-19 were reported in Central China's Hubei province on April 23, local health authority said on April 24.

The provincial health commission said 22 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after recovery on April 23, all of whom were in the provincial capital of Wuhan.

By the end of April 23, the province had 544 asymptomatic cases under medical observation, after 22 new such cases were reported and 24 were ruled out on April 23.

— The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hubei dropped to below 50 on April 23 for the first time.

According to the daily report issued the NHC earlier on April 24, Hubei had 47 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on April 23.

— All the COVID-19 patients in serious condition in Wuhan have been cured, a health official said on April 24.

The last patient in serious condition in Wuhan was cured on April 24, reducing the number of such patients in the city to zero, said Mi Feng, spokesperson for the NHC, at a press conference in Beijing.

— Shanghai reported one imported case of COVID-19 and zero increase in locally transmitted COVID-19 case on April 23.

— China's Heilongjiang province on April 23 reported three new locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and no new imported confirmed cases. The province also saw eight new asymptomatic cases on the day.

— A batch of medical supplies donated by Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region was transported on April 24 from Yinchuan, the regional capital, to Punjab in Pakistan to help with the local coronavirus fight.

The supplies include 1,000 N95 masks, 20,000 surgical masks and 500 protective suits.

— A hospital in East China's Zhejiang province announced it will offer large-scale nucleic acid and serum antibody tests to people aged above 14 starting on April 24, to help more employees and students return to work and study.

— Chinese medical experts aiding the fight of COVID-19 in Kazakhstan have returned to China after completing their mission in the Central Asian country.

— The Supreme People's Court (SPC) has reiterated efforts to resolutely correct job discrimination in accordance with the law, stressing the discrimination against laborers from Hubei should be prohibited.

Regional discrimination in recruitment and arbitrary dismissals of Hubei workers should be corrected to ensure laborers' equal employment rights, the SPC said.
