BEIJING — The State Council, China's cabinet, announced the appointment and removal of officials on Aug 12.

Zhang Gong was appointed head of the State Administration for Market Regulation, replacing Xiao Yaqing.

Zheng Hongbo was named deputy head of the National Railway Administration, replacing Yu Chunxiao.

Wang Xi was removed from the post of vice-minister of science and technology.
