WUHAN — Authorities in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, have enforced strict inspection rules for imported frozen food.
A thorough inspection of every box of imported frozen food is mandatory, Hu Yi, deputy head of Wuhan's city bureau of market regulation, said at a press conference on Dec 11.
"The external and internal packages of every piece of imported frozen food must be sampled, in addition to the commodity itself," Hu said. "Items that have not undergone the thorough inspection must not go into warehouses or hit the market shelves."
Employees in the imported frozen food field must take nucleic acid tests every seven days, while employees in other frozen food fields must take the test every two weeks.
Since July, Wuhan, once hard hit by COVID-19, has tested samples from 4,977 cold storage facilities. The novel coronavirus was detected in the external packages of 10 pieces of imported frozen food, said Wu Fengbo, with Wuhan's health commission.
