GUIYANG — The forest coverage rate in Southwest China's Guizhou province has surpassed 60 percent, according to the provincial forestry bureau.
The province's forest stock volume reached 570 million cubic meters. Part of local afforestation efforts was planting about 1.99 million hectares of trees between 2016 and 2020.
Last year, the total output value of forestry in the province hit 337.8 billion yuan (about $52 billion).
By the end of 2020, the total area of nature reserves in Guizhou reached 1.99 million hectares, accounting for about 11 percent of its land area.
