The Spring Festival will arrive soon. Let’s check out some of the action as many gear up for this year’s biggest celebrations.

Festivity is in the air.

Tangqi ancient town is located in the north of Hangzhou, the capital of East China’s Zhejiang province. It has prospered with the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the waterway portal of Hangzhou in ancient times. It became a hot tourist spot after the Grand Canal was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Today it combines tourism shopping, leisure restaurants, folk custom experience, and more. The ancient town is a top choice among many to spend the upcoming Spring Festival.

In the neighboring Jiangsu province, Nanjing is all set to host the 29th Qinhuai Lantern Fair. It is one of the most famous lantern fairs in the country. In June 2006, the fair was named as one of the Intangible Cultural Heritages of China.

A large number of distinct lanterns will be lit up along the Qinhuai River scenic area. As a key component of folk culture in Nanjing, the fair also features a folk entertaining show. A lot of local folk arts are set to be showcased at the fair, including paper cutting, rope knotting, carving, and shadow puppet plays and more. Meanwhile, singing and dancing performances and acrobatic shows will also be featured.

The fair will officially open on Feb 11 and runs until March 31.
