The city of Xuchang in central China’s Henan province is holding the 9th Xu Chang Three Kingdoms Tourism Week. The event attracted guests from home and abroad, who took part in the opening ceremony on April 28.

The tourism week aims to establish Xuchang as a popular tourist destination with its rich history.

The city was the capital of the Wei Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms Period 1800 years ago. The era became the inspiration for many Chinese novelists, poets and painters. Special edition stamps were released to celebrate the city’s rich heritage.

The event will hold various activities such as forums, debates, exhibitions, design contests and group weddings all related to the heritage of the Three Kingdoms era. Performance troupes from India, Bulgaria and Russia will also stage shows. The event will run until May 3.
