The traditional East Asian calendars divide a year into 24 solar terms. Li Chun is the first term. Traditionally, it is believed that a clear day on Li Chun would means good harvest through the year while a raining day is a sign to the farmers that they should take extra precaution on their crops for the year.

Spring flowers, Mei flowers and Camellia are blooming cross the nation to welcome the beginning of spring. Farmers often celebrate the day with special village events, worship and offerings to the gods and ceremonies for a blissful and prosperous new year.
