An art expo aimed at showcasing the artistic side of China’s college students kicked off in the port city of Tianjin. College art troupes from across the country will be holding performances in universities within the city.

For the next six days, 32 college art troupes chosen from across the country will take center stage on college campuses across Tianjin. More than 6000 students and teachers will take part in up to 200 performances, making up nine shows.

The six universities hosting the shows have updated their stage facilities and equipment and recruited close to 1,000 volunteers to get ready for the event. They’ve also been preparing for the monumental task of accommodations for all the performers.

The expo is a collective showcase of the country’s college stage art held every three years, and covers singing, instrumentation, dancing, and drama. Apart from stage performances, the expo also includes exhibitions of paintings and calligraphy that have all been created by college students.
