China has sent further aid to cyclone-hit South Pacific island nation Vanuatu. The latest batch of relief supplies departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 25. The 185-ton emergency package includes tents, waterproof tarpaulins, electricity generators and food.

China has pledged to provide Vanuatu with relief supplies worth a total of 30 million yuan, or about $5 million. Tropical cyclone Pam tore through Vanuatu last week, claiming at least 24 lives and causing huge economic damage. China has said it will do its best to help Vanuatu overcome difficulties and rebuild.
