The Datong-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway officially started operation on Dec 30, 2019.

The line also connects Beijing to Zhangjiakou and Zhangjiakou to Hohhot, which all opened on the same day. The train is designed to achieve the speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The travel times from Beijing to Datong and Datong to Zhangjiakou have been shortened to less than two hours.
