South China's Guangdong starts repairing coastal forest belts
Updated: May 8, 2020 10:17 CGTN

South China's Guangdong province started to recover its forest belts in coastal areas to fend off typhoons in the coming summer.

In recent years, the tree belts along Guangdong's coast have been damaged by the strong winds and high waves brought by typhoons, prompting the local government to start planting again as the typhoon season approaches this year.

Most of the trees are mangroves and coast oaks, which are adaptive to the coastal environment and are expected to form an effective buffer zone to cushion the impact of typhoons.
