On May 24, CGTN spoke with deputies of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and members of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) about their thoughts on public health in China.
Zhang Boli, NPC deputy said, “Provincial governments should have the power to decide whether to lockdown certain regions or counties.”
Liu Zhongjun, NPC deputy said, “Our blood donation law, adopted many years ago, ruled that donors should be between 18 and 55 years old. I think it’s not proper. Our life expectancy is over 70 now. We have a smaller donor group and an increasingly bigger user group. If our motion to amend the law is adopted, the blood shortage issue might be eased somehow.”
He Wei, CPPCC member made three suggestions saying the, “first one is how to build human resources in the county or subcommittee level medical centers. Second thing is how to use high technology to reach long distance resources … The third one is how to build up that model to increase efficiency and sustainability.”
