The trial operation of a green energy project that will power the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics started on May 25.
Beijing 2022 will be the first Games in history at which all venues are powered by green and renewable energy.
The 160,000-kilowatt test marked the interconnection of three converter stations, which are part of the Zhangbei high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grid project. The project will turn solar and wind power in the Zhangbei region into stable green energy for Beijing 2022.
