Dunhuang's Mogao Grottoes see tourism boom in June
Updated: July 6, 2020 09:28 CGTN

Mogao Grottoes have seen a tourist boom in June as the attraction adjusted its epidemic control measures last month.

The attraction was reopened to the public as early as May 10, and as the containment measures eased across the country, the historical site also adjusted its previous rules by lifting its accommodation limit from 30 percent to 50 percent of total capacity.

According to the data provided by the local administrations, more than 2.8 million tourists visited Mogao Grottoes by the end of June, a surge compared to the previous months.

Many were amazed by the natural scenery as well as the profound history and culture of the attraction.

However, the attraction still requires all visitors to make reservations in advance, and they have to provide QR health codes and receive temperature checks before enjoying a trip into the tunnel of time and history.
