China's first domestic-support deepwater oil and gas project, Liuhua 16-2 offshore oil fields cluster, has started operation after 30 months of construction, announced its developer China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on Sept 20. It is located approximately 240 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong SAR at the Pearl River Mouth Basin in the northern part of the South China Sea.
